Commercial Vehicle Incident Investigation Course

This course is comparable to the Collision Investigation Level 2 course taught to traffic police investigators who are responsible for investigating serious injury and/or fatal collisions. It is taught by a highly qualified investigator who has trained hundreds of participants during his career.

You will learn how to gather evidence, effectively investigate and determine the root cause of collisions.

The Reason

If your company vehicle and driver has a collision, who do you think looks after your best interest?

No one.

IF the police attend the scene, they are looking to determine if any criminal action took place. Police investigations focus on the criminal element: the “what happened” (not liability) “why it happened,” and “who pays.”

Police organizations are restricting the types and locations of incidents they attend, often referring persons involved to their insurance company.

Your Greatest Risk – Essentials & Enhanced

The Essentials & Enhanced program is designed to address driver behaviour and attitude regarding workplace safety and professionalism in the operation of vehicles and equipment. It benefits all employees, whether they drive to and from work, or for work. The program offers up to 30 driving-related topics, all developed from a behaviour-based model designed specifically for the workplace.

Towing Light Utility Trailers

Advantage Fleet Services Inc. (AFSI) has created a complete Towing Light Utility Trailer Course specifically developed for clients who utilize light trailers in their business. This program meets WorkSafe regulation requirements as each individual training module was developed from the OEM manual specific to that piece of equipment. AFSI has built this course in such a way that organizations can have the course customized to meet their specific needs.

Pre/Post Trip Inspection

This course consists of a classroom and practical application session. Upon completion of this half day course participants will understand how the law relates to a pre-trip inspection and how the pre-trip inspection is an integral part of the paper trail and dove tails into due diligence. Participants will learn the requirements to satisfy the inspection, when to submit inspection reports, and what law enforcement looks for.

On-Scene Collision Investigation & Data Collection

When a company vehicle is involved in a motor vehicle incident it is imperative that the organization looks after its own best interests. While the police and insurance companies’ complete investigations for their purposes, your business concerns are not their primary concern. This course teaches the driver the key elements of what and how to collect information at a collision scene.

National Safety Code (NSC)

The National Safety Code (NSC) is the compliance standard for the management of fleets, both nationally and provincially. All fleets require a safety certificate to operate and this certificate is obtained through the Provincial authority of NSC.

Hours of Service

Hours of Service (HOS) will allow participants to: understand the law (Div 37 MVAR) relating to Nation Safety Code (NSC) HOS rules, ensure drivers do not violate the HOS rules and get mandatory rest time, and learn to keep accurate records providing a required paper trail showing compliance.

Fuel Management

Fuel is high on the list of costs for all fleets. Many of our clients are telling us that fuel is their number one controllable cost. With the ever increasing cost of all vehicle fuels, prudent managers are searching for ways to improve their efficiency in this part of their business.

Enhanced Driving Techniques (EDT)

The Enhanced Driving Techniques (EDT) course has been developed to improve overall driving skills, introduce shuffle steering and ABS braking, heighten the awareness of the hazards associated with driving, and modify risky habits and behaviours. This course will provide an understanding of the driver’s behaviour, knowledge, skills and abilities while operating a vehicle.

Defensive Driver Training (H-DDT) Heavy Commercial Vehicle

Defensive driving is a big part of being a professional driver/operator. Anyone can benefit from applying defensive driving techniques because it is as much an attitude, as it is a skill set. The intent of the Defensive Driver Training (DDT) program is to identify all the attributes of a defensive driver and give you the skills to apply them in all your driving situations.
